Potted History

The idea of forming a theatrical company in Sitges grew out of a conversation at the bar of Casablanca, Sitges. Many small towns in the UK have an amateur drama group, why shouldn't Sitges, with a large ex-patriate community, have one of its own? The enthusiasm of Brandon Jones, the bar owner, soon spread to a group of regulars and a meeting of interested people was held in the autumn of 1999. A largely self-appointed steering committee paved the way for the first AGM on 22 January 2000 when a committee was elected with Jimmy Gardiner as Chairman.

The aim was, and is, to perform English language theatre in Sitges. Although the working language is English, membership is open to all. The official address of Sitges ETC is c/o The Hotel Liberty, C. Isla de Cuba 45, 08870 Sitges, Barcelona, which is where many of our meetings take place.
